Reseñar un disco como “American Porn Songs” es realmente muy difícil ya que a primera escucha no es facil de asimilar.
Desconozco la razon por la cual Eric Powell haya decidido hacer un disco mas denso cuando a 16 Volt algo que siempre lo ha caracterizado es la rabia que le imprime a sus temas, en algun momento se le llamó el rey midas de la musica industrial, pero parece que el rey midas esta perdiendo su toque, nunca he estado en contra de la evolucion, todo lo contrario, pero sencillamente tras varias escuchadas lo unico que encuentro son melodías de metal industrial lentas y repetitivas, salvo sus honrosas excepciones.
Incluso antes de hacer un juicio objetivo de este album debo confesar que busque en internet otras reseñas para saber si no era yo el unico que no habia entendido el nuevo concepto de 16 Volt de quienes soy un fan desde sus inicios, y para mi sorpresa descubro que al parecer casi nadie se ha atrevido aun a establecer un juicio en torno a el nuevo album, solamente Side-Line y Re:Gen Magazine ademas del sitio “Vampirefreaks” han hecho comentarios, Re:Gen son los unicos que dicen que el disco es espectacular pero no dicen porque, Side-Line menciona solo un par de temas, casualmente los mas salvajes y alguno de los mas tranquilos, concluye diciendo que 16 volt es una banda que siempre hay que recordar y le da un 8 mientras vampirefreaks solo se concreta a dar la alineación y decir que es un disco crudo y oscuro, pero en una opinión muy personal creo que ninguna de esas reseñas es del todo sincera y que solo trataron de quedar bien con el artista y con la disquera, aunque cada quien es libre de decir lo que piensa y muy respetable, es por ello que expresare mi opinión de una manera muy breve.
Lo que nadie ha dicho es que es lo que Eric esta presentando en este disco realmente, en mi opinión muy personal, lo que Powell trató de hacer fue una especie de tributo al Grunge de los 90, que genero pudo haber sido mas americano que el Grunge y que estrellas musicales y en que genero fueron mas seducidas por el sexo y las drogas que las del grunge?... “American Porns songs” puede ser un simple nombre o bien el concepto real del disco y relacionado con lo que les menciono
Este disco una vez lo escuches te va a recordar en todo momento a los primeros Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice In Chains, Filter y The Screaming Trees pero todas ellas en una versión mas metalera.Tambien se sigue encontrando mucha influencia del Nine Inch Nails noventero, bueno en cual disco no, pero casualmente los 90 fueron Grunge, creo que ya es mucha la casualidad, hay que poner mucha atención a la afinación de las guitarras y se daran cuenta que es verdad lo que les digo, por eso no entendia yo el disco, porque entodo momento trate de encontrarle el 16 Volt clasico por todos lados.
De este disco destacaré en especial los tracks que siguen la vena caracteristica: “American Porn songs”, Useless people”, Enjoy the pain”, “Somebody to hate” (que recuerda un poco a ministry), y la excelente, increíble “To hell”, la mejor del album, por otro lado en la vena mas tranquila hay que mencionar temazos como“With fire and burning”, “Become your none” (con un sampler del “Pinion” de NIN), y porque no, la grungerisima “Blackbird” que nos podria dar una idea de cómo habria sonado Nirvana si hubieran terminado tocando industrial.
Si van a comprar este disco no esperen encontrar ni “Supercoolnothing” Pt 2 ni “Full black habit” pt 2, pero te pasaras horas y horas tratando de recordar a que te suena.
La producción es increíble, la musica de excelente calidad dada la gama de artistas invitados con los que cuenta este disco, pero yo francamente solo espero que el siguiente disco sea mejor.

Este es otro de esos casos tipicos de “Evoluciona o muere” y que no siempre es comprendido por los fans mas necios y aferrados, siempre he dicho que Grendel es uno de esos pocos artistas dentro de la Harsh y Dark electro que se estan preocupando por ofrecer algo nuevo y que no se estan dejando estancar como tantas otras bandas del genero que suenan exactamente igual o aquellas que creen que entre mas sucias suenen son mas malvadas o mas peligrosas.Grendel ya puso el ejemplo una vez con “Soilbleed” en el 2005 y repitio éxito con Harsh generation en el 2007, uno de los discos mas sobresalientes de la Harsh electro de ese año precisamente por atreverse a darle un giro mas interesante que el que estaban haciendo las bandas del mismo genero.Para este 2009, nos vuelve a sorprender con “Chemicals + Circuitry”, un EP que nos sirve como adelanto de lo que de ahora en adelante será… y esperamos que asi lo sea, el nuevo Grendel, alejado cada dia mas de la Harsh y Dark Electro, que para beneplácito de muchos de sus fans y que no estamos tan clavados en el Dark podremos apreciar a un mas, el disco cuenta con 3 tracks nuevos y varios remixes basados en estos, abre con “Chemicals + Ciscuitry”, que de inmediato a mas de uno le hará pensar que algo anda mal o que se equivoco de disco, este track se podria decir que es una especie de Revival del future Pop, me recuerda claramente aquel “Meshwork” de X Marks the pedwalk y tambien lo ultimo que hizo Icon Of Coil en “Machines are us” o el “Holy” de In strict Confidence, un track perfectamente ejecutado y que equilibra muy bien la melodía del Synth pop moderno con la agresividad caracteristica de Grendel.“Shortwired” el siguiente track no se queda atrás, aquí se pueden apreciar aun reminiscencias del Grendel de “Harsh Generation” pero soportada por una efectiva base Trance y unas vocales casi limpias y melodiosas que nos dejan aprecir el estupendo rango vocal del señor JD Tucker, por ultimo el tercer track “Serotonin Rush” es una pieza instrumental en toda la linea Icon of Coil, armonias muy bien ejecutadas sobre una base Trance nuevamente y hablando de los remixes del disco, pues no podian ser menos espectaculares tomando en cuenta la gama de artistas que Tucker eligio para el disco, el remix de Synthetic Dream Foundation para “Shortwired” es un track asesino para pistas de baile, muy cercano al Psychedelic Trance, al igual que el remix de “Chemicals + Circuitry” en manos de Studio-X que lo lleva tambien a los terrenos ultra-bailables pero del Hard Style, el resto de los mixes seria mejor que lo descubrieras por ti mismo ya que este EP es algo que realmente hay que degustarse lentamente para lograr captar toda su escencia, ya quiero escuchar el disco completo, altamente recomendable.

Hace un par de meses y como la habían prometido Implant realizaron un EP de remixes basados en el sencillo “Violence” principalmente y para el cual la banda organizó un concurso del cual solo 3 finalistas lograrían ver su remix editado en este CD, dichos remixes fueron ejecutados por Mizuh que hizo de Violence una pieza New Rave muy interesante, mientras que Prune Flat la trabajo dentro de los terrenos Tecno Minimalistas y por ultimo Midnight-mare realizo otro no menos excelente trabajo al realizar un remix Trance-electro y para rematar los propios Implant realizaron una nueva versión Hardstyle del mismo track que no podia ser menos que el mejor remix de Violence del EP. Sin embargo aquí no termina todo, al contrario en esta realización Implant nos ofrecen muchisimo mas de lo que sus fans esperabamos al incluir otros 5 remixes del disco Implantology y de los cuales destaca en especial el del track “Rip That Thing” por la inclusión de las vocales invitadas de Dirk Dadavo de The Neon Judgement y el trabajo de remezclado por parte de System FX que lograron un track de Hard Electro mucho mas efectivo que el original hay que aceptarlo, otro buen remix es el que hizo Shiva-R para el track “The Dive” con Jean Luc De Meyer de Front 242 en las vocales y lo mejor y mas destacable del disco son los nuevos tracks por supuesto, On Hands and knees y I Feel quizas no sea lo mejor que han hecho pero en conjunto con todo el resto del disco encajan muy bien, pero por otro lado Nothing Left To Kill sigue la linea de de Implantology y se perfila como uno de los mejores que han grabado, se siente como que este track es de las mismas sesiones de Implantology pero que al momento de compilar el album ya no encajó y vino a ser casualmente el aderezo perfecto para este EP que por la duracion y el numero de tracks vandria a ser mas bien un LP normal, “Violence” es un disco solo para coleccionistas fans de la banda ya que difícilmente alguien que este recien introduciendose a su sonido podria apreciar en todo su esplendor.

Urceus Exit quizas sea una banda que para muchos sea actualmente desconocida ya que tienen relativamente poco en la escena, se trata de un duo de Vancouver, Canada, cuna de grandes artistas industriales como Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly, Moev y Manufacture y pues bien con esta nueva exportacion de Canada al mundo no nos queda ninguna duda de que siempre han estado y seguiran estando a la delantera en estos terrenos, inclusive por encima del industrial y electro aleman que últimamente solo ha estado repitiendose. Urceus Exit esta conformado por Richard Duggan y Joel Sellen, debutaron hace 3 años con un disco que ha pasado ya tambien a la historia como uno de los mas interesantes y vanguardistas de la historia de la musica electronica moderna, estamos hablando del album “Contra” editado bajo el sello Artoffact records, en dicho album se combinaban perfectamente elementos de IDM con Electropop y Electronica minimalista, quizas comparable a lo que venia haciendo Haujobb en discos como “Solutions for a small planet” y “Polarity”, el disco no tuvo mucha repercusión debido precisamente a lo complicado de sus estructuras musicales, pero aun asi no se rindieron y el sello Artoffact siguió dandoles el apoyo y la libertad creativa. Es asi como a 3 años de aquel imprescindible “Contra” llega el futuro clasico “Compensation for the sound of silence” (Compensación para el sonido del silencio), quizas un titulo que a muchos les parecera pretencioso, pero una vez lo escuchen no pensaran lo mismo, Urceus Exit en esta su segunda producción ha logrado no solo encontrar la formula perfecta para equilibrar la IDM y el synthpop con la electronica moderna, ya no recuerdan mas a Haujobb, ahora quizas en momentos podrian parecerse en algunos tracks a lo que esta haciendo Ogre de Skinny Puppy como solista y que se puede apreciar en piezas como “It all adds up to zero” y “The mobilization of blindness”, tambien en momentos podria recordarnos Rupesh Cartel y a los desaparecidos Dubok en “The worst that we’ve become”, “Drifting” y “Pretend”, el resto del disco esta conformado por tracks de muy fina y sofisticada manufactura que dificlmente podran escuchar de alguna otra banda. El final del disco es contundente con la densa “Compensation for the sound of silence” que no hace mas que dejarnos pidiendo por mas. En pocas palabras el disco es una obra maestra de principio a fin, hace muchos años que no escuchaba un disco de esta naturaleza y que realmente me atrapara como lo ha hecho este, con cada escucha siempre descubres un detalle nuevo, en definitiva un disco que no pude faltar en la colección de ningun amante de la musica synthpop y electronica moderna.

Briefly the disc is a masterpiece from beginning to end, for many years i was not listening to a disc of this nature and that really was catching me as this one has made, with every listening you always discover a new detail, finally a disc that could not be absent in the collection of any lover of the music synthpop and modern electronics.

Nine Inch Nails drummer completes new version 2008 solo album ''Coup'' And here's another band member surfing on the band's fame and name to (re)launch an own solo project. This time it's Nine Inch Nails (and Lostprophets) drummer Ilan Rubin who is about to release a special edition package of his 2008 solo project "Coup". Rubin recorded the album as part of his project The New Regime. The new version is a limited edition one of the original pressing. You can get the new version from www.Thenewregimemusic.com . The package features the album on vinyl and CD, as well as a DVD featuring live performances and an interview with Rubin. The whole is completed with a 16-page booklet and a link to download instrumental mixes from the same site.

Container 90 une 4 bandas de EBM Suecas en viniloHace un par de años, algunas bandas suecas se unieron para publicar un EP con únicamente EBM old school. El experimento funcionó y ahora en este año se planea resucitar el proyecto con el lanzamiento del álbum denominado "Swedish Old School EBM EP 2009".
Será una edición limitada a sólo 150 ejemplares, en vinilo clásico de 7" y será maquilado por Container 90. Junto con Kropp, Spark y T.W.A.T. El disco contendrá puros tracks de EBM de la vieja escuela. Especialmente para los fans de la banda estarán encantados con el material que fue reunido por el pelotón Container 90.
Container 90 unite 4 Swedish EBM bands on vinyl 2 years ago a number of Swedish joined forces to release an EP with old school EBM. It worked and so this year the project has been resuscitated for the "Swedish Old School EBM EP 2009". This limited edition of only 150 copies on classic 7" vinyl is made by Container 90.
